Each Friday this page will be updated to reflect our weekly activities. Sometimes just the information will be updated but often pictures of current projects will also be displayed. Make sure to continue returning to view class projects.
April 15-April 19
For Science we started learned about the Water Cycle. We learned about clouds, rain, and the sun. The student drew a Water Cycle diagram. On Friday we enjoyed our Science experiment, Root Beer Floats for States of Matter. For Social Studies we started our research for our Famous American project. Next week we will continue researching and begin creating our Famous Person.
This week we started finished the lessons for Unit 8: Review of Multiplication, Division, Area and Perimeter.
We also continued reviewing ISAT math questions to become familiar with the ISAT format.
We continued working on our BlockCAD3D during workshop. Our class is piloting a coding program called BlockCAD 3D. Student are learning how to digitally build assigned items. This week they were assigned a catepillar to build. The program exposes them to mathematical foundations: 2 D and 3 D shapes, transformations, coordinate planes, degrees etc.
We also worked on multiplication facts.
After each lesson and during intervention the students worked on Math Workshop. In Workshop this week we added Fiddlesticks and Ozibots.
This week in Reading we used Non-Fiction biographies of our Famous Person. The student used these books to find facts about their famous person. They filled out a packet addressing specific facts that pertains to their famous person. The also found their own interesting facts to add to their research. We will continue to use our text and online resources to prepare of our Famous person exhibit.
For Writing this week we continued reviewing for the ISAT ELA performance task. The students viewed prompts and practiced brainstorming and typing various writes. This week we focused on Opinion and started our Informative prompt to practice.
We also completed cursive letter 'v' and a review of tow truck mastery letters.
BUILDING A COMMUNITY
This week we had our Art Show and a few of our classmates placed. We enjoyed viewing each others art.
