This week we focused on Social Studies. For Social Studies we finished our Geography Unit. The students finished typing their State Reports. They also finished creating their globes. This unit covered standards:3.SS.2.1.4 Use a map title, map key, scale, cardinal directions, and symbols to interpret a map. 3.SS.2.1.3 Locate on a map waterways, landforms, cities, states, and national boundaries using standard map symbols.
In Reading this week we read a book called, Aero and Officer Mike. This is an Informational book about police dogs. The book explains how Aero, a police dog, is trained, works, and plays with his Officer, Officer Mike. The students focused on vocabulary, author's purpose, and main idea and detail. Then the students tested on all those skills.
In spelling this week we finished our ninth spelling list. The students worked in small groups and learned various word work activities that we will use throughout the year.
In cursive we worked on 'l' and 'f' and completed a review of the letters we have covered.
In Writing we continued the Organization Trait. The students finalized their State Write.
