Below is general information that makes our classroom and school a safe and excited place for learning.
DOJO is an app that our class will use daily. It is how our class communicates current happenings, upcoming information, and behavior. This app allows you to see what it going on daily in our classroom through viewing photos on our class stories The messenger portion provides a quick way to communicate with parents both as a whole but also individually. Once you have logged into DOJO using your username and password. You should have received a username and password at open house or it was sent home with your student. Please let me know if you have not received a username or password
Students will be allowed to pick awards from the award sheet both individually and as a class each week and each quarter.
At the beginning of the year we create expectations as a class. Please view those below. Students are required to adhere to these expectations. They are given one chance to fix an expectation before they lose DOJO points. Each expectation has a point deduction, which is depended on the situation surrounding that expectation. These can easily be tracked through DOJO. If a student continually struggles in a certain area the student and teacher will conference, then parents will be contacted, and last the principal will become involved. If the behavior is severe and is harmful to others this may result in a higher consequence.
problem solving-Kelsos Wheel and PBIS
When students have conflict or disagreement with other students I do not interfere, unless it becomes harmful. Instead I teach them how to problem-solve. By third grade, students are at a development level where they can problem-solve with other. At the beginning of the year I will introduce and model Kelso's Wheel. Students will use this process to learn to deal with social issues positively and constructively. As a school we are introducing PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System), which will be described more throughout the year.
